31 December 2010
It's almost the new year, and South still isn't listening.
So as a reminder of what our New Year's resolutions should be, I issued another call for talks today. I've already stated multiple times that I'm willing to go back; Russia and China are also willing to go back. If South would agree to return to talks, I wouldn't even care if Japan and America didn't. It's not their business anyway.
And, if he doesn't return...
We've started rehearsing invasions of the five border islands that South still insists are his. We've been training soldiers to swim in full combat gear, even in the cold water.
Of course, that's only if he doesn't come back.
So far.
Onward to a future of power and prosperity, 임 상 규

Ah, the New Year...
I remember days when I used to spend it with China. It's the year of the rabbit, yes? Maybe I will try to join him in February for the official start of it when he starts his celebrations for the Chinese New Year.
In the mean time, I will just enjoy the military parades in my own country. Not nearly as spectacular since we don't really have fireworks and don't want to waste artillery, but enjoyable and patriotic nonetheless.

I still can't get used to it being 2011. I don't miss 2010 though. No place to go but forward.
South Korea issued a statement today. "Any military aggression by North Korea will be met with a strong and stern response." Who does he think he is, my mother? "Stern response?" Really now. He's acting like he's got the authority to scold me. Maybe China since he's older, but South? He's my twin brother, he's got no right.
However, they also said they're open to dialogue. Such a mixed message they're sending. What am I supposed to believe?
Still looking toward a great future, 임 상 규

South Korea and Japan might start seeking military cooperation.
...
Is he fucking insane? Seriously? With Japan? After everything the two of us did to get away from that bastard?
It just seems...
Firstly, I feel very much more betrayed by this. He's willing to get together with our enemies just to gang up on me? Maybe...the whole 'I'm open for talks' thing was just a bluff. To get me to let my guard down, yes?
Second, if he's going to do shit like this it sure doesn't make me want to cooperate. Like I'm going to want to be reasonable with him when he's teaming up with Japan and America with the intent of trying to bring me down?
As if I couldn't have felt any further from my own brother.
Hopeful future looking down again, 임 상 규

Oh, this is quite interesting.
Today Japan said he's open for talks. How lovely is this? He and South say they're open for talks and yet they want their militaries poised to attack me? Such mixed messages, but I won't complain. That leaves only America now. Everyone else has agreed to one-on-one talks at the least, and a few to the Six Party Talks. If I can get America back in to individual negotiation, I bet I can get him back into the Six Party Talks as well. And once he's in, everyone else will follow.
Funny how that works, yes?
So, so close,

Ah, I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up so quickly when people say they are willing to negotiate. Today I made a proposal for talks with South Korea. These were my four basic points:
1. We courteously propose having wide-ranging dialogue and negotiations with the political parties and organizations of South Korea including its authorities.
2. We are ready to meet anyone anytime and anywhere, letting bygones be bygones, if he or she is willing to go hands in hands with us.
3. We will discuss and solve all the issues related to the important matters of the nation including detente, peace, reconciliation, unity and cooperation at dialogue, negotiations and contacts.
4. As an immediate offer, we propose discontinuing to heap slanders and calumnies on each other and refraining from any act of provoking each other in order to create an atmosphere of improving the inter-Korean relations.
And you know what he does? He rejects it. After he said he was open to talks. I was even willing to let him choose the location and such. So much for that, yes?
Last time I try to be open with him for a while.
Forever alone, 임 상 규((It's probably bad that my Hetalia-fied mind read this story and thought it was adorable. But...;A;...North Korea tried to be civil! It was cute to hear them being so...nice. And then South Korea rejected it LOL. So mean. xD They had good reason to though. North Korea didn't really make a proposal on their end. Just some vague 'let's be nice to each other' statements. South Korea also says the North needs to show they're making a sincere commitment before they'll agree to talks. I just posted the main point things. There was a lot more if anyone wants to go read it: www.defpro.com/news/details/20962/?SID=3020f1cbe1f118dd8b2bfd5a653b37d4 ))

They're all saying I need to take concrete steps towards denuclearization before they'll come talk.
Well...what can I do without exposing myself? I'm not selling fuel rods to South, no way. I don't care if he's willing to pay; I'm not giving him something he can use against me. I'm not closing my nuclear facility, no. I just opened the damn thing. The Six Party Talks are supposed to help us agree on all that! Why should I have to do anything beforehand? So I can open myself up for attack before deals have been signed that say no one else will do so?
I think not.
I'm not doing anything regarding denuclearization until we get into talks that are aimed at that. Otherwise it's just not fair, now, is it?
Still waiting,
임 상 규

No word from South still. So much for trying a different approach.
But that's okay. I've got more important things to worry about. Like the Young General's birthday tomorrow. We're keeping it kind of hush-hush because no one's really supposed to know about him yet, but he'll still have a good birthday anyway. We're just not letting America and South know too much about it.
I wouldn't want South to try and pull another train-derailing party crasher stunt like last time, yes?
So very kind of him.
Bless the Young General, 임 상 규

((Language warning, Korean rage. xD You would too if you'd just been trololol'd.)) 8 January 2011
I expected to wake up to a wonderful, bright shining morning on the Young General's birthday. On such a special day, that is what you would expect, yes? What did I get instead? Possibly one of the rudest, most immature awakenings ever.
I make daily checks of the DPRK's YouTube and Twitter accounts every morning. Just to make sure the people who post the content do it right, yes? Well, when I got on YouTube this morning, I expected to find many a celebration and parade of the Young General's birthday (which I was very much looking forward to watching, by the way). What did I find instead?
That we'd been hacked. By South.
That. Little. Bastard.
He hacked into our sites and posted vulgar, untrue, absolutely immature propaganda, lies, and slander. I thought the train derailing was immature, oh yes, but this is hands down the most immature, childish thing that little shit has ever done. What nerve that little brat has, doing things like that on the Young General's birthday. The first thing I saw was some badly put together video of my dear Young General running down pedestrians in a car. He thinks this is funny? I find it downright fucking insulting. I try to be civil and suggest talks, and then he and his people turn around and do this?
As for Twitter, it had been filled with the propaganda of those dirty Southern dogs.
With such blatant disrespect of my leaders, and making some sort of oh-so-hilarious joke of my people's lives, you'd think he doesn't give a shit about reunification at all.
And you know, when he pulls shit like this, it makes me think it's better if we're just forever apart.
Best wishes to our Young General,임 상 규((I just had to write my journal early today. Because this was so priceless. Soooo something Yong Soo would do. xD It was perfect LOL. Although, I do find the video kind of inappropriate because of the content, because the running over starving people thing...isn't really funny. :/ How much it will piss off the North Koreans is though. xD Here's the story and the video if you want to read/watch it. www.npr.org/2011/01/08/132762872/hackers-celebrate-kim-jong-uns-b-day-with-videoIt's times like this I wish I spoke Korean so I could know what they're saying. I can read the words, I just dunno what they mean. xD No point in being able to read it if I dunno what the words mean.))

Despite the hacking, I think Jong Eun's birthday was a rather good one, yes. He was pretty put off by the hackers, but once we got that out of the way he seemed to forget about it.
I will, however, still make South pay for it.
After we get back to talks. That's still my priority. He and his leaders seem to be considering now. If they come back, I can probably get something out of it. If they don't come back, he looks like the instigator of the tension in the international community. Either way I win, in a way.
But we'll see.

10 January 2011
I issued another call for talks today. Maybe if I issue them repeatedly he'll get that I'm serious? But South and his government are still asking for an "official" call for talks since ones issued through the news like I have been aren't technically "official" to them. It has to be sent it a letter from my government to theirs or they won't even consider it.
So troublesome, Brother.
Now I suppose I should get to work on getting stubborn old Kim-gakha to write a letter.
Still trying, 임 상 규
((Notes: "-gakha" honorific: used when addressing presidents or monarchs.))

Kim-gahka still hasn't written a letter yet. I don't know if he's going to. South's demanding an apology for Yeongpyong and...whatever else. That boat. And Kim-gahka doesn't like giving in to demands.
However, he did give permission to resume contact via hotline at the border, so today someone went down to Panmunjom and called the South on the Red Cross hotline. They talked for ten minutes; just long enough to say we'll reopen the line on our side.
In other news, we caught seven people trying to defect today. ...Actually, that's a lie. We caught two of them. And killed five. Dirty traitorous mongrels. The survivors will wish they hadn't done that. I suppose I'll make time tomorrow to invent suiting punishments for them.
All in a day's work, 임 상 규
((Yep, the Koreas re-established contact via "hotline," and North Korean guards shot seven people trying to defect to China. Five died and they brought the two defectors back to North Korea. Lovely.
And BRO sfjdkls. I'm going to work on your post tomorrow. I've had exams this week, but tomorrow and Thrusday are half days and I have Friday off, so I'll have more time to sit down and get my muse going.))

There is some American saying that "North Korea is becoming a direct threat to the United States."
It sounds to me like maybe America is beginning to take me seriously, now, hm? To me it almost sounds like the Americans are afraid, and rightfully so. Why shouldn't they? They've underestimated me for so long as that 'reclusive communist state,' and only now are they beginning to realize that I play a bad hand very well. As they slap sanction upon sanction on me, I'm still finding ways around them. Smuggling isn't that hard, you know. Especially when no one pays attention to that 'reclusive communist state.' For so long they thought they could strangle me out of my nuclear program. No such case, seeing as it's now bigger and better than ever, and not a single one of them saw it coming. They couldn't stop me, and I know that's what America fears.
The poor dear. I almost feel sorry for not telling him sooner! I would've liked to enjoy his shock. I will be milking it the the fullest now, of course.
With pleasant feelings, 임 상 규

I have decided...I am going to stray a bit from my usual tendencies.
I'm not talking about weapons, no.
The point is, I'm in such need of cash that I'm going to host a...I almost can't believe I am saying this...a golf tournament. It's not really my sport...I much prefer football (meaning, the one you actually play with your feet, not that horrid American version, mind you). But I can charge participants money to participate, and it's 100% legal. There was nothing in the sanctions about me holding a tournament.
Now just to see how this all plays out.
Curiously planning,임 상 규

So, since my economy is...admittedly terrible, we have decided to set up an economic development bureau. The plan for this is that it will build infrastructure, develop agriculture, and help with basic industries like electricity. That's the plan, anyway.
Also, apparently an assassin I sent to South Korea years ago to eliminate a former (aka traitor) government official of mine who defected there, not only managed to let the man die of heart failure before he could kill him, but got caught by South Koreans. When he gets out of prison in ten years, he better not try to come back to the North, because I'll shoot him myself.
Idiot.
For a powerful and prosperous future, 임 상 규
