So, I noticed we have had an influx of new people, and not as many opportunities for these people to start plotting with people due to the fact that most of us who have been here awhile are drowning in threads already. To remedy this and perhaps give some of these new people who are interested a chance to interact, I suggest a World Meeting thread. We had tried plotting something like this out way back like, seven months ago, but then I think a good number of our key players wandered off and it never came to pass.
Of course said event would not only involve the new members. Anyone who wanted to would be able to participate. We would need to work out a timeframe and a few details, but that shouldn’t be too hard. Dear members, if this sounds like something you would be interested in, reply here. ~

Actually, that's a wonderful idea. I'm slightly fresh here, myself, so I'd be kind of lost in knowing who is busy with threads already or not. In any case, are you proposing it to be more like a Global conference?
Kind of in the format of Nation A has an issue and Nations B, C, D, etc comment on said issue? Rotations all around? So--I suppose what I am trying to say is--sign me up.
Dayquil, stop making me trippin'.

Yes, it would be sort of a global conference. I think the format would depend on which time frame we choose to place it in. But yeah, that could certainly be the idea in some cases. So I think we first need to figure out a time to center the thread in. Last time we suggested having it in the Cold War era, but there are several other times that would work just as well.

I very much like this idea in the sense that it would allow us to RP with members we wouldn't normally RP with. For example, I can't think of any historical reason I'd ever need to RP with any of the Asian characters, but this would allow me to do so.
As long as we're sure everyone will be able to have equal amounts of input, I'm all for it.

Yes, everyone would have equal input in this. ^^ And once we kick around some ideas on what time frame we want this to be in, I can make a poll and you guys can vote for whichever one you want. So far having it in the Cold War has been suggested, but if anyone has other ideas, please voice them.

You are not red enough yet, America.
Anyway, I think a Cold War setting is a great idea. If America is coming, then that helps both sides of the confrontation. With that being said--does anyone have any idea or preference in which stage of the Cold War we'd be dealing with?
Like for example 1947, which was the beginning of said tension--to say 1970 after the Cuban Missile Crisis and Sino-Soviet Relations beginning to split apart; or closer to 1991 considering the fall of the Iron Curtain and USSR?
If you decide not to come, Russia, (or if there's another topic anyone wants to bring up?) perhaps it would be wisest to pick a later date?

I agree to cold war settings. That'd actually give Swiss a lot to do since he's always the mediatour for other nations who refuse to talk to each other yes I'm looking at you America.
I'm all for this! o/ Will totally hack into my research books and wiki.

/original instigator #1
I think that it would be good to do the Cold War settings because it seems like a lot of the new people who have joined seem to have some type of tie to the major players of the event. I would also think that it would be interesting to do a present time issue as well... though it would rely on the players understanding the politics of the country that they have been assigned. But I'm totally down for that too.
I don't really think that I would be very involved in this conference because Spain was pretty isolated from international affairs after World War II (until 1955 when USA asked to station its people there to counter possible USSR presense in Western Europe). However, having done Model UN and done quite a bit with these types of settings, I can help out.

I'm in, too! Cold War settings sound pretty good to me, too. Poland was pretty active during that time... maybe not internationally, but, he'd be able to complain a great deal during a meeting at that period.

If we're going to do Cold War-era, I'd prefer near the end. Seychelles was still a British colony until June 29, 1976 ... and then formed an alliance with the Soviet Union the very next day.
