(((My Reflection)))
Nation: Japan
Name: Kiku Honda
Gender: Male
Appearance Age: 27
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark brown
Height: 165 cm
Weight: 59 kg
Appearance: Kiku is a small, slim build man. With the usually Asian silky black hair, shortly cut. His size and thinness making him look kind of scrawny, but you'll quickly learn that he is faster and stronger than he looks. He has his ninja and samurai history to back up on this fact, and he is not afraid of death upon entering a battle or fight. This making him able to look like a very determined little man if he wants to. Though most of the time he prefers to stay and appears as the possible nerd that can't do much.
He has a pretty nasty looking scar going down from the left side of his hips and down on the half of his left thigh. The scar is a leftover from the nuclear bombs, that are almost healed completely now, though they have still left the scar as a reminder. This is not the only scar he has collected through time, but all the other reminders and scratches he has collected from various battles and fights kind of drown in the view of the nuclear one.
His clothing changes a bit depending on the surroundings. When not home on his islands, he prefers to wear not so comfortable formal cloth or uniform. A white Japanese Navy suit is his preferred when around other countries. He even have an upgraded version with a lot more decoration. There's also a black version of the navy suit that he sometimes uses, but it's not often as it reminds him of a certain person. When home he usually wears a simple blue Yukata with a rope. This is his favourite wear of all of them, though he prefers not to wear it around someone he don't know very well.
(((Know Thyself )))
Personality: You say the eyes are the windows of the soul, and in this case you'll be met by two expressionless eyes that aren't going to give anything away just like that. They tells of isolation. He may smile now and then, and do give off some kind of expressions; but the eyes gives away the it might not is meant for real. It can be hard to tell, it sometimes look like he means it but doesn't and just keeps it as a formal façade. This doesn't mean he's non-caring, he's just shy at some point. Not giving much away about himself - other than name and other relevant stuff like that - to people he don't know. He can be quite hard to get to know.
Sometimes he even just cuts himself off from the rest of the world. Closing himself in his own house and staying in there, minding his own business and not caring at all about the world around him. Once he even really did close himself off from everything, going Hikkimori and not even wanting to open once to the world outside. This ties together with his habit of being quite an Otaku. (Though that time didn't have much to do with Otaku-ing, that was too long ago). He enjoys anime & manga maybe a bit too much, and don't mind to use one of those Hikkimori-moments to watch or read. Playing games is also one of his big hobbies.
Don't let the Otaku fool you. Despite being nerdy, is he quite hard-working and won't stop his work before it's done, and done properly at that. He'd rather use a lot of time to do something perfectly, and rushing through it. He never uses rushes movements when working or doing something, everything is done as controlled as possible. Because who needs a holiday when you can work to make something completely astonishing or maybe perfect.
He has a certain fondness for food. Especially fish comes in his great liking. Living with the sea all around him and having the seafood as a big importance, he really cannot live without in many ways.
He's somewhat naive and if you explain something to him that he don't know anything about in a serious tone, he'll take it deadly serious and believe it no matter how ridiculous it might be. Being isolated so much he don't know much about the world. He's willing to learn about it, but often finds it a bit odd - which sometimes can leads to him just crawling back into his shell and all the stuff he knows so well. Others often finds him a bit strange too, which he really can't understand why, as it's completely normal to him.
There's another thing he has pretty much pushed this as far away as possible, not wanting to accept whatever it was, happened. No one found out, and he's not going to tell anyone. That'll be greatly against his way of thinking and people would just stamp him as mad. All through his life he has had another him inside his head. Approaching him as if he really was there and he has often believed there really was another him – making the sound of breathing, and looking at him though eyes that was supposed to be his own. Although this ... person looked completely like him, he has always thought it had another shade in the eyes. A shadow of something darker than the usually emptiness. It never had any good intentions, but back then he didn't know any better and it promised that being stronger was the way to go and it'd help him reach it – even if it meant to attack his own family.
This 'dark Kiku' have a more darkened personality too, and bigger intentions. He wants Japan to reach for greater than the greatest, and has tried to convince him to do so since the birth of the Japanese nation. He's a lot colder, and likes to play with his prey - or in one or another way make Kiku do it. Just his eyes tells you not to approach, Kikus eyes are quite soulless, but these are pretty much eating you just from a gaze.
Through WWII, Kiku was pretty much take over by this and when the war headed to an end he got enough of his other self. He had reached a lot, but was losing it again, being left with less than before and when the bomb was throw he was finally able to get rid of 'it'.
He has never spoken of this to anyone, and is not going to do it.

(((The Pages of History )))
History:
Japans appearance age is 27 years, though he's something like 2,670 years old (Like China is 4,000). I've tried to cover each period to match with the apparent age, and not the actual age. Do keep in mind it's only apparent age and might not match together with the other nations age-scheme. Also if you think I'm missing something - which there probably is - important, or I've made some mistake; feel free to pm me.
0-3 Jômon: Around the end of the last Ice Age. A very young Japan who pretty much just wandered around gathering whatever food he could find, hunting a bit, and fishing. Still cut off from the rest of the Asian mainland.
4-6 Yayoi: China finds Japan (some time later together with Korea) and he starts to use rice as a source of food instead of the gathering and hunting. He also learns the casting of metal which is a major development. The skills in working with jade, jasper and moulding glass is also learned. He becomes a more complex nation.
7-9 Kofun: He starts to make a lot of ceramic figures, people, horses and buildings, placing them over tombs of the ruling elite. Big culture exchange with Korea, similarities can be seen in such forms as tombs, interior decoration and grave goods. His skills in both metal-working and ceramic increases, being able to make things as iron weapons, bronze mirrors, gilded horse trappings, ceramic vessels and sculptures. By the end of the period he starts to paint.
10-13 Heian: Esoteric Buddhism is introduced to him by China. Concentrating more on conceptual nature of the deities, and meditation focused on spiritual diagrams called mandalas. He also started to believe in the western Pure Land of Amida Buddha. In contrast he begins to grow a bit in strength too.
14-15 Kamakura: Both his politically and military strength increases. He grows ideal virtues of a warrior; strength, courage, loyalty and the willingness to die for honour. However still enjoying both martial and cultural arts. A new form for Buddhism is introduced by China; the Zen Buddhism.
16-18 Muromachi: He has a period with a lot of stuff going on inside his head, and some time goes before he takes the contact with China again. The resuming contact leads to some cultural development, and a improvement in agriculture, and he begins to take the interest in the merchant class, and opens for oversea trades. Tea was also introduced from China.
19 Momoyama: More development, specially in the art. A lively trading were made with both Asian and from some of the distant Europe. Japan also has two unsuccessful 'attack' on Korea. He starts to look a bit down on Christianity.
20-22 Edo: Conduct the regulation of trade and expulsion of many Europeans. Limiting the European trade to Hirado and Nagasaki only. Long time of peace, ending with Japan closing himself off from the rest of the world - except Netherlands. Later he comes out of his 'shell' again, and concludes friendship treaties with America; followed with England, Russia, France and Netherlands. England bombard Japan for an incident involving samurai attack on foreigners (a man from England). Japan is forced to abide the treaties with England, America, France and Netherlands. He often used rice as currency at this time.
23-24 Meiji: Japan starts an effort to gain parity with the European nations and America. He starts a thorough-going programme of modernization, a major goal to make him equally civilized. Though the rapid change was a bit too much, and together with the people he started to protest. The Sino-Japanese war begins primary for the control of Korea, which he wins. The Russo-Japanese War begins, and he wins this one too. He annexes Korea.
25-27 1912-2000 Modern: In the beginning of this period he enjoyed an cultural openness, with internationally influences eagerly absorbed. However, when it came to diplomatic and economic, Japan became increasingly militaristic and isolated. Although the Asian-Pacific war knocked some sense of national unity in his head. He joins the allies in WWI, were he wins the German concessions in China and the Pacific. The second Sino-Japanese war starts. Japan finally cuts the last bond with China and launches a full scale invasion, including the Rape of Nanking. He joins Germany and Italy. The attack on Pearl Habor; which leads to America dropping the atomic bombs. Japan surrenders.
Allies:
Japan haven't exactly been a popular nation through history, though being the second biggest economy in the world he now shares allies; which some where 'ally' is a too big word to use.
The European Union
America
Canada
Australia
South Korea
Enemies:
Today there are not many that'd be considered enemies, though a lot would not be allies or friends either.
North Korea
Sample Post:
Oh god, I've always sucked at sample posts, I never know what to write in them XD Oh well, I'll figure something out. This takes place some random time when Japan still was with China and the rest of the Asian family. Not any specific event, just some random ramble from my mind to fill this part of the profile |) Normally I'd include human names too when posting, but I've chosen not to do so in this case (the gods must know why xD)
The sun lightning up the whole scenery from a sky cleared from every little cloud. Shining with a bright blue colour, the day just felt so much lighter. Leaves and flowers sometimes freed themselves from their place and made a short journey though air, dancing in the wind and creating a lively colouring to the world, before finally getting tired and placed gently at the ground or on the surface of water; where they would be carried even further away. Insect and birds sometimes joined the dance too, buzzing and singing; giving music to the dance of the leaves. Overall a pretty peaceful day.
The whole scene was being observed by the emotionless eyes of a still young nation, though it was some time since he was found by the older Chinese he would still be considered young - and small. This fact didn't bug him too much, yet he couldn't ignore it; you had to be big to be strong. His deep eyes was filled with thoughtfulness as he sat there and watched nature in its full beauty and peace. Though it was other things than the sang from the birds, or the touch from the wind that filled him right now. Far away he could hear the noise of other people, and even though he couldn't hear who exactly it was he was pretty sure that it was Korea getting either into trouble again or just simply wanting attention from China. He breathed in, but stopped half way through and just made the air escape in an empty soundless sigh, as he turned in the direction of the sound. That Korea... He was so noisy. He liked China a lot and respected him, but it still wondered him why he had chosen to take care of Korea. That boy took so much energy, and attention - plus he was annoying.
,,Just be patient.''
Japan turned to look at the scenery again, know whose voice it was, hearing it, but choosing to ignore it. Or at least not react to it. ,,I promised I'd help you get the power you want. You deserve.'' He still kept his gaze steady, not blinking or looking for the source of the voice. Knowing where it came from. Who it came from.
,,You know; I don't like to be ignored like that.''
A perfect copy of Japan was standing in front of him. Looking like him in every way, almost - the eyes was not the soulless and empty eyes that was usually seen on Japan. Those eyes had a lot more confident in them, as if they were smirking; and in this bright light they almost had a red highlight, making them look a bit demonic. Japan just stared blankly at the other him; not impressed by the appearance of a person that looked completely like him. Actually he had met him a lot of time before, as long back as he could remember. ,,Don't look so sad now.'' The other one said, smiling, and lifting a hand to place it on Japans cheek. Japan still didn't as much as a blink by the touch. ,,I know you deserve better, but as I said you have to be patient. Being a land created by the gods, you only deserve better.''
The red eyeds tone almost sounded like a seller, but Japan couldn't tell. He had listened to these talks all his life, and they were pretty much a part of his every day life now. They didn't impress him too much any more - even though he believed them. ,,I know.'' He simply replied. The other smiled at him, though it would be a lie to call it a friendly smile. Another yell was heard in the background, this time it was for sure China; calling for Japan to come.
Before Japan even noticed it the other was gone, and he was again alone with the insects and birds. He didn't answer Chinas call, just looking at everything once more, before turning to run to China. The sun shinning so bright and the trees and flowers waving so gently in the wind as to assure everything would be fine.

Random fun fact about yourself:
That wasn't too detailed, I know. And sorry if my writing is crappy XD Having English as my second language, words just doesn't always come flying naturally to me. Sometimes I have to go research a bit (because I like to make sure) and that does take some time. Hence why everything be short and stuff. Enough with the excuses~! Hope it's acceptable.
Oh and I'm not Japanese |D Since I haven't had any history or anything in school, Hetalia is pretty much just my great excuse for having more interest and research into that land of the rising sun ahah'''
