That sounds so ominous, doesn't it? 'Moving Day'. I quite like the dark implications.
Ahem.
I already gave a bit of information on my Q&A bit in the closure announcement, but I want to make sure you guys have no fears about switching to a new type of forum. As always, if you have concerns, please feel free to post your comments or questions below or PM them to me. I'm here to help, but I can't if you don't make your concerns known.
What I MUST move:
--Character Profile - This is the only thing you absolutely must move from DR to DR2. If, for some reason, you really just want to redo the entire thing, that's fine, but you'll have to let me and one of the other admins read over it before you post it.
That being said, there are some things you should know about coding.
**Certain text colors do not work on Invisionfree. I know for certain that PrussianBlue did not show up when I tried and I believe there were two or three more that were also broken. If you need help finding a new color, I'll be happy to assist.
**You do not center text the same way on IF. The code they use to center things is . Be sure to change this code before posting it.
I've posted a help guide on the site that you'll be able to read over when it opens that should explain any other coding questions.
What is allowed but not necessary to move:
--Character Journal - (Not many people have them, so I guess this doesn't matter too much.) If you want to copy all of your journals, you're free to do so. I, personally, will not be moving mine. I'll just start a new one and pick up where I left off.
--Thread Tracker - If you have one, it's a good idea to move it so you know what kind of RPs you've been in. Make sure all of your links are updated and in proper working condition. If you do not have one, it's always recommended that you start one.
--Fanfiction, photographs, art work, etc. - Any type of creative medium like this may be moved.
--Meet 'n Greet, plotting pages, etc. - Any threads that you started may be moved. I'll likely just be starting new ones.
What I should NOT move:
--Most general discussion threads - That being most things under the General Board and things from the "Good Ol' Times" section. Nothing on this site is going to disappear when we close, so you'll always be able to go back and read over these threads. Moving them is not necessary and would be very time consuming since most threads involve three or more participants.
**If there are certain things that the entire board wishes to have moved from one of these sections (maybe the headcanon thread?), let me know. I will start the thread on the new site and you may copy your posts to it.
--Requests for text colors, requests for the 'Wanted Characters' list, etc. We will be moving all the lists as they are now. If you've already reserved a color (unless you need to change it as I mentioned before) or added your wanted character to the list, they will appear on the new site.
New requests are fine, of course~
We at Darker have always been very lenient to our members when it comes to following the rules and regulations, and for the most part, you guys give us no trouble (you guys are awesome at not making drama, seriously~).
There is, however, one subject that needs to be addressed and that is activity. As of late, many people have not been obeying the one post per week rule. Let it be known that when we move to DR2, I am going to be more strict about enforcing this policy. (...What's with that look? I can be strict! ;A; ) If you are not on hiatus and you do not post once per week, you will receive a two day notice asking you whether or not you're still interested in keeping your character. If you do not respond within two days, you will lose your character.
It can be hard to keep up with site activity sometimes. Believe me, I know. However, as an RP site, our lifeblood is the members' activity. It's not fair to active members to have them tied up waiting for a slow-posting threadmate. If you go for weeks without posting, it is likely you've lost interest in our site and it would be better if you gave up your character so someone more (for lack of a gentler word) deserving can have it.
If you know now that you will not be able to keep up with this rule when we move, it might be better to save yourself the trouble of editing and moving your profile and creating a new account.
As always, if you lose your spot on DR because of activity, you are welcome to re-apply if your position has not been taken. Be aware (especially repeat offenders) that the admins, in such an event, are free to make you plead your case.
We don't want to be Nazis on you guys, honestly. We want you to have fun and like being part of our family, but we need your help to keep the site going~
Now that that's out of the way...
The other rules and the site canon are going to be more or less the same, but you should skim them to re-familiarize yourself.
**A note about hiatuses: Since it sometimes seems unclear about exactly how long a hiatus can be, I've broken it down for you guys:
- 3 week hiatus maximum (this means 21 days of no posting, no logging on, etc.)
- 1 week recovery period (you have 7 days to get back into the swing of things and make a post)
- 2 day grace period (if you do not post in your recovery period, you will receive an email asking if you're still interested in keeping your character; if you do not respond, you will lose your position)
Therefore, the maximum amount of time you can go without posting is...
21 days + 7 days + 2 days = 30 days
This is a month, guys. That's more than fair. Don't take advantage of this system. If you're gone for 30 days, post, and then instantly go on another hiatus, the admins are free to delete you at their discretion.
(Oh, right, I said I was done with harassing you guys about activity. Um... Oops.)
If you discover any problems with the new site (broken link? wonky coding? need to add a nation to the 'Around the World' section so you can RP there?), please let an admin know straight away so we can try to fix it (give Sweden your thanks, btw; she's been awesome about tweaking the graphics.)
That's it from me. If any of the other admins [present or soon-to-be] have anything they'd like to add, they're welcome to do so.
P.S. Be sure to vote in the poll about word count, guys! If you're unhappy with the results and you didn't vote, you can only blame yourself~
