(((My Reflection)))
Look at that sexy bastard.
Nation: Italia Meridionale/Repubblica Italiana/Southern Italy
Name: Lovino Vargas
Gender: Male
Appearance Age: Early-Mid twenties - 22-23
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Brown, but gold when it catches the sunlight just right
Height:
Weight: Average; he's not pudgy, but he's not super-skinny or muscular, either
Appearance: Romano is the epitome of suave Italian. He has dark-brown hair, olive skin (darker than his brother's, due to his Arab lineage), and hazel eyes that seem to glow gold when they catch the light just right. Like his brother, he also has a wild curl that refuses to lay flat, although his sticks up considerably higher, and is on the opposite side of his head. Like Veneziano's, Romano's serves as an erogenous zone. Don't ask how; no one knows the answer.
As Rome is a center of fashion, Lovino is very well-dressed, although his wardrobe tends to be on the practical side of trendy; he would rather dress in a light shirt and shorts than something top-of-the-line that makes him uncomfortable, especially as his summers tend to be very hot.
As far as his military attire goes, his is very similar to Spain's, in that he prefers khaki over his brother's blue, and his sleeves are ¾ length, instead of full length. He has also been known to wear a sailor suit similar to Veneziano's, although his is white and green instead of white and blue.
(((Know Thyself )))
Personality: On the surface, Lovino just seems bitchy. Always cranky, always yelling, it's hard to believe he even has the capacity to smile.
But beneath the irritability lies a genuinely caring soul. Having spent the better part of his life being compared to (and subsequently found to be less likeable than) his brother, Romano has learned to put up walls, making him suspicious of any attempt to be friendly and assuming that the person in question is only trying to butter him up for something.
Like his brother, he prefers to avoid conflict. Yes, he's a coward, but he also has a severe aversion to pain. Due to the choreia he suffered from as a child, he spent a lot of time knocking into things. While Antonio had care of Lovino, he attempted to cure the choreia, making Lovino dance a tarantella, and although it appears to have worked, it remains to truly be seen.
As it basically comes with the Italian territory, Lovino is something of a romantic. He enjoys films where the handsome guy gets the girl at the end, the bad guy goes to jail, and everyone has a happy ending.
Due to his mafia having considerable control over both his economy and Romano himself, he tends to be very suspicious of people he doesn't know very well. It's hard to tell who is or isn't a mole listening in on his conversations, as he's sure the Cosa Nostra higher-ups know who and what he is. However, this doesn't stop him from making the occasional “phone call,” should anyone need shady assistance with anything.
Above all else, as a Southern Italian, family is the most important thing in his mind. Although he outwardly expresses to hate Feliciano, and even goes so far as to disrespect his grandfather, he loves both of them with all his heart, willing to bend over backwards for his brother, as he often does; his dislike of Germany is his belief that the Nazi regime brainwashed Feliciano, the whole thing being an alliance he never liked in the first place.
As a side note, Romano is also left-handed.
Likes:
★ Roman Holiday
★ Good food
★ Good wine
★ Tomatoes
★ Being outdoors
Dislikes:
✖ Potatoes
✖ People that annoy him (this seems like a no-brainer, but everyone annoys him)
✖ Germans
✖ The Mafia
✖ Being as dirt-poor as he is
Fears:
☣ Cosa Nostra. His organised crime families tend to push him around a lot, and they have an iron grip on his economy, whereas Veneziano's is safer from their influence.
☣ His choreia. It appears to have been cured, but it made his life a living hell while it acted up
☣ Another Spanish Inquisition. All joking aside, Spain was scary as hell during his super-Catholic phase, and it left a permanent impression on Romano.
Secrets:
♦ He thinks his choreia is still there.
♦ He sometimes calls his crime families for favors, often keeping imports actually coming into his part of the country.
♦
Strengths: Lovino is a crack shot with a pistol, although anything bigger becomes too cumbersome for him to really be any good with. He's also an accomplished knife fighter, able to throw his opponents off with his left-handedness.
As to be expected, he's also quite talented in the kitchen, his favorite dish to make being cannoli, especially when strawberries are in season.
Loyal to a fault, Lovino will bend over backwards to help his family
Weaknesses: Lovino's a coward, to put it bluntly. He's seen enough war and conflict in his life to have come to hate everything about it, preferring to run instead of fight.
His left-handedness also makes his handwriting very hard to read, as thousands of years of trying to change it has left him a little underdeveloped in dexterity in both hands. Long story short, Lovino invented chicken-scratch handwriting.
